theBoardlist is a platform where business leaders nominate and discover individuals who are ready to serve on corporate boards of directors. As part of our community of board members, candidates, executives and investors, we are committed to being transparent with you about the data we collect about you and how it is used and shared.

This Privacy Policy describes how theBoardlist, operated by Choose Possibility, Inc. (we, us, our or theBoardlist), may collect, use, and share information, in connection with the operation of our main website (www.theboardlist.com) and all of our websites, mobile applications, and emails that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, “Services”).

Please read our privacy policy carefully to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your personally information.

What personal information do we collect?
We collect your personal information when you use Services, sign up to be a member of theBoardlist or another website operated by us (a “Member”), or when a Member nominates you to theBoardlist (including any other websites operated by us) or sends you an invitation to join our Services. “Personal information" is any information that can be used to identify you or that we can link to you.

We collect information in the following ways:

• Information you provide. When you register for an account with us we ask you for your name, address, email address, phone number.
• Information from your use of our Services. We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you use, access or interact with our Services, and this may include using cookies or similar technologies to identify your browser or device.  In addition we may collect information from or about the computers, phones, or other devices when you access our Services such as the operating system, hardware version, device settings, device identifiers, language and time zone, mobile phone number, IP address, and server logs.
• Information from Third Parties. We will also collect information from third parties or other sources, such as our corporate partners, individuals who recommend board candidates (each, a “Candidate”), social media and other publicly available information about you, including but not limited to, your photo, biographical information, and general geographic location (e.g., New York City).

How do we use your information?

We use all of the information we have to:

• help us provide and support our Services, which allow our Members to discover Candidates for their corporate boards and connect with other professionals;   
• create your Member profile (“Profile”) when you are initially approved to join our Services as a Member or a Candidate. Our Members will search for candidates for board seats in their organizations based upon the Profiles we create of the Candidates. You may modify or hide your Profile at any time by logging into your account and editing the information contained in your Profile description, or by contacting us at support@theboardlist.com to make changes on your behalf;
• personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver type of Candidate suitable to your organization, and any other content in which you are most interested;
• send periodic emails regarding our Services, including newsletters, new Candidates, etc;
• respond to your inquiries;
• maintain our list of contacts, including Members, Candidates and advisory members to our Services;
• understand how people use our Digital Services, including by generating and analyzing statistics;
• process your transactions relating to our Services; and
• as we believe reasonably necessary or appropriate to: comply with our legal obligations; respond to legal process or requests for information issued by government authorities or other third parties; or protector your, our, or others’ rights.

How do we share your information?
Companies use our Services to search Profiles of Candidates who have been nominated by our Members.  Any information that is included in your Profile, including your name, title, professional information, general location (e.g., New York City), photo, and biography can be seen by all Members of our Services. If you have been nominated as a Candidate on a website operated by us, your Profile may also be published on the theBoardlist, or any other platform operated by us. In that case, you may opt-out of having your Profile published on these platforms.

Your contact information will not be shared with any Member without your prior consent. If you are a Candidate and do not want to be discoverable on our Services, you may either hide your Profile by logging into your account and clicking the “hide profile” link, or delete your Profile completely by sending a request to us at support@theboardlist.com.

If you are a Member who has nominated a Candidate, other Members can see your Profile. If you prefer to not be associated with the nomination of a Candidate, you have the option making your nominations and/or written endorsements of Candidates anonymous.

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share information that reasonably identifies you or your organization with unaffiliated entities for their independent use except as expressly described in this Privacy Policy or with your prior permission. We may share information that does not reasonably identify you or your organization as permitted by applicable law.

In addition to the foregoing, we may also share your information with:

• our third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as web-hosting companies, mailing vendors, analytics providers, event hosting services, and information technology providers
• law enforcement, other government authorities, or third parties as may be permitted or required by the laws of any jurisdiction that may apply to us; and
• service providers, advisors, potential transactional partners, or other third parties in connection with a transaction in which we are acquired by or merged with another company or we sell, liquidate, or transfer all or a portion of our assets.

How do we protect your information?
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to comply with applicable legal requirements and safeguard the information that we collect.  However, no information system can be 100% secure and therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. The Services are controlled and operated by theBoardlist from, and all data are stored in, the United States. We may transfer information to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have data protection laws and regulations that differ from those in your country. We retain the information we collect no longer than as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collect the information and to comply with our legal obligations.

Cookies and Similar Technologies?
Yes. We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g. web beacons, pixel tags and device identifiers) to enable our Service to recognize you and/or your browser/device and capture and remember certain information.  For instance, we use cookies to help us remember you when you sign-in to our Service and process the items in your shopping cart. They are also used to help us understand your preferences based on previous or current site activity, which enables us to provide you with improved services. We also use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can offer better site experiences and tools in the future. We may also use trusted third-party services that track this information on our behalf.
