The candidates are sorted by areas of expertise and nominated by an inaugural group of about 60 Silicon Valley influencers, including venture capitalists, founders and C-suite executives from companies like Box, Twitter, and Lyft.
If successful, Boardlist could create a much larger pool of potential candidates and increase the number of female role models in the tech industry.
The thinking is that the list could act as a resource for companies who are looking to bring diversity into their boardrooms at earlier stages in their development.
Whether BoardList will bridge the gap remains to be seen, but it looks like a very smart start.
One of the things people are craving right now are tangible solutions (to the gender diversity problem).
